Emilio F. Alvarez founded E.F. Alvarez & Company in 1974 as an accounting and consulting firm concentrating exclusively in construction clients. Emilio’s guidance and 35 years of experience have made his firm the leader of the construction accounting industry in South Florida.

As President, Emilio works regularly with more than 125 construction contractor clients to provide a wide range of tax services, financial reporting, and business counseling.

Emilio’s passion for helping individuals and business is supported by the firm’s growth and unrivaled reputation in the South Florida area as well as the lasting relationships he has built. Over the span of his professional life, Emilio has been a reliable and trusted advisor to many contractors in every branch of the industry and to surety companies that have relied upon his services and opinions.

Emilio is also the author and presenter of numerous seminars on the subject of construction accounting and auditing. He graduated from the University of Miami in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Before founding E.F. Alvarez & Company in 1974, Emilio worked for Grant Thorton LLP, an international accounting, tax and business advisory organization

He is a member of CICPAC (Construction Industry CPAs Consultant Association), CICPAC’s Marketing Committee, CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association), Accounting & Reporting Committee of CFMA, The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), The AGC Tax and Fiscal Affairs Committee, American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), Construction Industry Conference Committee of the Florida Institute of CPAs, and The Hard Hat Group.  Emilio is also an Adjunct Professor of Construction Accounting – Florida International University – School of Construction Management and a member and Past Chairman of the National Construction Industry Conference Steering Committee of the American Institute of CPAs. He is also a member of the construction committee of Camillus House (a non-for-profit for the homeless).
